Virrey. Antigua Guatemala. 180 m2
This is our home in Antigua Guatemala. We’d like to share it with you
We built our home within the 16th-century city of Antigua Guatemala. A contemporary refuge set among Spanish colonial architecture.
Light became the first driver, shaping the house around a central courtyard. Openness followed, dissolving partitions and allowing spaces to flow freely. And because Antigua’s climate invites outdoor living year round, the house remains largely open to the air.
Elements intrinsic to colonial architecture (courtyards, blurred boundaries between inside and outside) are preserved, but reinterpreted through a contemporary lens.
Turns out we like to cook and we love to entertain.
So, every weekend, the house transforms into a pop-up restaurant, where strangers become friends, gathering around our table to share our food, our music, our books, and our home.
And, of course, more than a little wine.
